The Artist
and Her Journey
Brette Alana - First and foremost she is an independent performing and recording artist. She has been performing professionally since 2009 for numerous events and private parties such as state level sporting events, political conferences, county fairs, and weddings. With her vast repertoire, she is always able to provide clients with the tunes and eras they’re looking for. With her vocals rooted in her jazz upbringing and beginnings, she has the flexibility to turn any song and make it her own unique style. She has led and performed with and toured with the nationally award winning music group, American River College Vocal Jazz Ensemble, for 3 years. Her participation provided the opportunity for her to be personally acknowledged and awarded three times by the National DownBeat Magazine. This group also pushed her to access her voice and ears for improvising, also known as scatting. Through this spur of the moment music-making ability, she has discovered what it truly means to sing and play from the heart and soul. This freedom of expression not only carries on deeply through her songwriting, composing and beat-making endeavors, but in every area of her life. Due to the pandemic, ARCVJE and her were forced to continue their music journey at home and online. This opened Brette’s world to the possibility of recording and producing herself and others, and to releasing her first world-wide single “Sunday Afternoon” - written, produced and mastered all on her own. Brette is most at peace in the studio, whether her own or not. Through this passion she now offers producing services and lends her session vocals to help her clientele’s projects truly shine and speak for themselves.

With all of these creative endeavors under her wings, Brette loves sharing her musical findings and wisdom through teaching. Teaching beginning to advanced levels in voice, piano, guitar and trumpet since 2018, Brette brings a special spark of energy to her students of all ages. She empowers students through honing their musical voices, instrumental or not, to lead a life of authentic, joyful, and powerful self-expression. Using techniques such as breathwork, meditation and improvising, she creates a positive and welcoming space for all of her students to grow - both musically and individually. All of her students come out of her lessons feeling more confident and grounded in their creative and intuit musical abilities.
Outside of her musical life, Brette finds joy in connecting with nature, and thus connecting with herself through healing practices such as yoga, gardening, writing, hiking, swimming, and just being. Her profound love for traveling and experiencing other cultures has a direct correlation to her music creating habits, often encompassing sounds from all over the world. In this fast paced era, Brette has found a sense of power in the eye of the hurricane, in the stillness of the mind, in the movement through her body, and her connection to every living thing breathing or not. It’s these practices that are the foundations for Brette’s purpose - which is to create unity, awareness and growth for herself and the world, by helping to raise the collective consciousness one note, rhythmic pulse, and evocative lyric at a time.
